I chose to have my personal status on Facebook remain silent today, to honor those who lost their lives in NY, DC & PA. I was countered with posts saying the opposite. That people were choosing to work, to socialize, etc. I simply offer this.
I never said I wouldn't be working. In fact, I will be working a good part of the day.
I never said I wouldn't be socializing. I just choose to do it the old fashioned way, face to face and not in front of a computer screen. I will be spending the day with the people I hold closest to my heart. You don't know what tomorrow will bring. Why waste it sitting in front of your computer when you can have the real thing.
The events of 9/11/01 have forever changed our world. I thought I lost my best friend that day, she thought she lost her husband. Thank God they were both okay. But many of our friends didn't make it out alive, and so for them, I silence my personal Facebook page, to honor their memory.
